Hive Fleet Moloch is a small Tyranid Hive Fleet that was active in the galactic northeast in M41.

Not that much is known about this Hive Fleet, mostly because of the little amount of fluff that's been released about them. In fact, there is more written about its victims than about the Hive Fleet itself, and that isn't much either.

Tyranid activity in the Ghoul Stars[edit]

Hive Fleet Moloch was first discovered in the last century of M41. Sources may vary, but the earliest recorded human contact with the Hive Fleet was on the Agri-World of Jollov in 932.M41. A very ordinary and unnoteworthy planet otherwise, the discovery of Moloch coming for it coincided with the apparent discovery of an STC on the planet, and thus, a decent amount of forces were dispatched to defend the planet until it had been safely recovered. The results of this campaign are inconclusive, as in, the sources don't tell us whether the planet was eaten or not, if the STC was recovered intact or not...

Moloch's rampage in the Tarellian Empire[edit]

One of the things most significant feats of Hive Fleet Moloch was the destruction of the remnants of the Tarellian Empire. A small Xenos civilization, the Tarellians were reptilian creatures (very similar to Lizardmen) first driven to near-extinction by the Imperium of Man, when they gave the Tarellian's home world a nasty dose of virus bombing. After retreating to a safer colony and having a couple decades to recover, they found themselves directly in the path of Hive Fleet Moloch, and were almost nommed to oblivion. At the last moment, the survivors were saved by the Tau, and the Tarellians, in return, swore loyalty to the Greater Good. Now they mostly work as mercenaries and Tau auxiliaries, especially when fighting humans or Tyranids. Some time after, Moloch a splinter of Moloch actually fucking starved to death in the interstellar void because it couldn't get to any inhabited planets in time.
