Part of the [[The_Post-Apocalyptic_Roadmap|Post-Apocalyptic Roadmap]] Project. == Northern Missouri == Everything north of I-70 is a (mostly) big dead dust ball. == Central Missouri == "Well Missouri wasn't hit much, but they hit it where it counted. Kansas City got freaking roasted, and St. Louie was hurt pretty hard by a near miss. Bam. Two biggest population centers. . . hell, the ''only'' two major population centers were wrecked, and then we took another nuke at Whiteman AFB. I guess those B-2's were just too tempt'n a target. Then after that, the fuckin' Guard just up and march off! Shit got kinda foul after that. Jefferson City got torn to shreds and lit on fire. Then all that fallout blew Northward, into the top half of the state and Iowa. And everyone just was wanting to get away from those maniacal bastards who where all rushing in on St. Louis from everywhere. A whole bunch of us decided that since there wasn't nothin' important in the center of the state, we'd probably wouldn't get nuked out there. After a few hours driving down 44, we finally got to St. James and guess who we find. Some of the fuckin' Guard! I'm just about to rip their gorram heads off for leaving us, but then this local head honcho called Malcolm tells us that these guys are defectors from the 138th Infantry who thought they were needed here more. Lord bless those magnificent bastards of the 138th. Must've saved our lives a dozen times over. It's been a few years since then, and lot's-o stuff has changed. We've built up a little haven here. The Central Missouri Confederacy is our little homemade government. We got 'bout two dozen communities spread from St. James, down 44, to Waynesville, as well as Lake Ozark, Iberia, and a few others. We got a nicely defended capital in Rolla where we can use the Experimental Reactor for power, at least until we can finish re-hooking the Bagnal Damn up to the grid. Oh! I almost forgot to mention: CMC's got a sweet deal with Parsons, Kansas. We give them 17% of our crops and they give us bullets from the Kansas Army Ammunition plant. Not a bad deal at all. All in all, I think we're doin' okay out here. ...hell, at least we're better off than New Jersey." = Other Stories = == Gateway to the West == Avoid Saint Louis, nothin' left there other then a bunch of assholes. Rednecks there must have been expecting it. Stocked up on weapons and ammo and own the city, or what's left of it. They won't do anything with anyone other then those they've initiated. Most of the Mississippi is controlled by the locals there too. Backwards ass hicks are killing everyone that comes near the river-side String up the bodies against what's left of the Arch. If you're crazy, or desperate, I think their food is in Busch Stadium. I'm really not sure, though. If you're super hungry, the Saint Louis zoo may have some mutated things left there to eat. I'd avoid the elephants though. One of my traveling buddies ate a chunk of one and ended up dead three hours later. Poor bastard. -Chicago [[Category:The Post-Apocalyptic Roadmap]] == The Holdouts == Out by the Busch Wildlife Preserve, there was a series of old military storage bunkers hidden out in the bush. Abandoned by the turn of the century, they were still sturdy when the bombs dropped. Some of the folk what had a head for livin' took their bugout bags and ran out to the Preserve, to wait out the storm. Some of them ol' doors didn't work so good no more. Rumor out towards Troy is that there's still folks hiding out there, making a living. Rumor also says there's something else hiding out in that wood. Somethin' real nasty-like, what eats folks while they're still alive. Carries folk off in their sleep, if'n they ain't in a good shelter. Folks have heard screams rollin' across the Preserve. Used to spend quite a bit of time out there way back when I was a kid, 'fore the bombs went and turned off my computer. Maybe them are more than rumors, friend. -The old cassette player was found near a pile of human bones, strung up from a tree.
