dnd-stub NeedsImages One of the more minor races of Dark Sun, Reggelids are a race of strange elf-like beings only found near the Jagged Clifs, where they wage a bitter war against the rhul-thaun, the relatively advanced halfling civilization that still lingers on the peaks. Resembling tall, gaunt, wide-mouthed elves with six-fingered hands, reggelids are obsessed with arcane magic, and specifically the powers of defiling magic. Their society is literally made up of tribes of aspiring wizards, who are content to dwell in primitive villages made of wooden lean-tos or converted caves, where they focus on studying and honing their abilities. In terms of rulership, of course, reggelid tribes are magocracies; the strongest spellcaster rules, and the others obey. Even when fighting other beings, reggelids only respect spellcasters (or those with innate spell-like abilities) and will express that respect by targeting them first. Such is their hatred for the rhul-thaun that they have even developed spells specifically to defeat the lifeshaped guardians and weapons that the rhul-thaun breed. Reggelids appeared in the splatbook "Windriders of the Jagged Cliffs", and were subsequently reprinted in the Monstrous Compendium Appendix Annual Volume 3. They never officially made it out of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2e, perhaps due to their close tie to the "Revised Edition" lore, but were updated to Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition by fans in the netbook "Terrors of Athas", which even went so far as to give them the following PC stats: ::Ability Score Modifiers: +2 Dex, +8 Int, -2 Cha ::Medium. As Medium creatures, reggelids receive no bonuses or penalties due to their size. ::Space/Reach: 5 ft. /5 ft. ::A reggelid‘s base land speed is 20 feet. ::Darkvision out to 60 feet. ::Racial Hit Dice: A reggelid begins with 3 levels of monstrous humanoid, which provide 3d8 Hit Dice, a base attack bonus of +3, and base saving throw bonuses of Fort +1, Ref +3 and Will +3. ::Racial Skills: A reggelid‘s monstrous humanoid levels give it skill points equal to 6 x (2 + Int modifier). Its class skills are Concentration, Knowledge (arcana), Listen, Search, Spellcraft and Spot. ::A reggelid‘s monstrous humanoid levels give it 2 feats. ::Weapon Proficiency: A reggelid is proficient with all simple weapons. ::+3 natural armor bonus. ::Spells: A reggelid casts spells as a 3rd-level wizard (defiler). Reggelids cast spells as a defiler of level equal to their racial Hit Dice.
