Phaant is the Ghostwalk goddess of bad luck, inevitability, and oppression. She's the ex-wife of Galaedros, and the closest thing there is to Lolth in the Hikirian Peninsula. ==History== Phaant was once married to Galaedros, and goddess of luck as a whole. But as he spent more time with his forests than with her, she murdered his brother Hunael in a jealous rage. This act transformed her into her current form. ==Worshippers== The church of Phaant is popular in Xaphan, within certain noble houses in Bazareene, and some evil humanoid tribes. While the hierarchy appears rigid, most are left on their own accords, expecting them to fail and plan accordingly. Some clerics go on to create gambling establishments, where players seem to be close to a big win, but never make it. They celebrate on anniversaries of injustices, tragedies, and achievements of great tyrants, with some including ritual scarification in the mix. ==Appearance== Phaant is depicted as a tan woman with gray hair, with one pupilless white eye and one completely black eye. ==Dogma== You are doomed. This fact is not because of anything you have done, but simply because you exist. Everything and everyone in your life will eventually fail or betray you, because that is the nature of things. Firmly command your subordinates, but expect that they will fail you when you need them the most. Plan contingencies for their failure. Only by personal attention can you expect to see anything to completion, and only through worship of and sacrifices to Phaant may you stave off the inevitable bad luck that touches all things. Abandon hope, for it is the crutch of a weak mind that seeks a nonexistent chance of success.
