Oh but we CAN be Ultramarines! The Genesis Chapter (also known as the Ultramarines reserve team) is generally held to be the closest of the Ultramarines’ Successors, both doctrinally ,astrographically, and historically; given it was founded out of the Legion Veterans that survived the Horus Heresy. Which sounds like a retarded way to make a Chapter and, wait, weren’t all Marines veterans of the Horus Heresy? So, maybe this explains the Rogue Trader Ultramarines. The Chapter holds to the wisdom of the Codex Astartes in every possible way. The Chapter’s home world of Newfound is a neighbour of the Ultramarines’ Realm of Ultramar, and its brothers commonly undertake at least one pilgrimage to the Shrine of the Primarch whilst popping over for tea and sugar. Given it's a second founding chapter, its first chapter master must've been someone important during the Heresy. The Chaplains of the Genesis Chapter regard the Codex Astartes as utterly sacrosanct, and they go to great lengths to ensure the Chapter’s adherence to its tenets. Any points of contention are debated thoroughly, with recourse to the opinions of the Ultramarines’ Chaplains for final ratification in order to ensure there is no doctrinal drift between Progenitor and Primogenitor whatsoever. So in essence whatever the Spiritual Liege orders; the Genesis Chapter will follow blindly, since if they cannot decide an action, they'll check with the Ultramarines to make a decision. Because the Genesis Chapter maintains such close links with its Progenitor, the two Chapters frequently cruise through the stars together, looking for battles/hoes/Codex deviants to bully. Genesis Chapter squads routinely fill gaps in Ultramarines’ companies should they fall below codex strength due to battle losses or other commitments. Individual Genesis Chapter Battle-Brothers have even been seconded to the Ultramarines to temporarily fill empty specialist positions in the Ultramarines Chapter such as Librarius and Forge staff. and what do they get in return? FUCK ALL that's what. If proof were ever needed to show that the Ultramarines were in breach of their own limitations on chapter size set down in the Codex Astartes, the Genesis chapter would be it as they are essentially an entire spare chapter for the Ultramarines to use as private reserves and can ensure (unlike some other chapters) that they never have to undergo a long painful period of rebuilding after a brutal campaign, and thus retain their Mary Sue status. The Genesis Chapter itself, however, did get out played by some Night Lords during the early parts of the 13th Black Crusade. Seeking to stop the Night Lords from landing on a planet, a cruiser launched its drop pods while still in orbit, looking to use them as makeshift boarding torpedos and storm the bridge. However, the Night Lords instead had laid a trap and decided to blow up half of the orbiting moon to take out the cruiser after killing the marines who had boarded their own Strike Cruiser. inside. To be fair, they did give a pretty good account of themselves. They only possessed a few squads led by a veteran sergeant and they managed to take half of the Night Lords with them. Not to mention said veteran sergeant took on the entirety of First Claw and killed Xarl, one of its most fearsome members. ((Said veteran sergeant was also a company champion and in a terminator suit with a thunder hammer, fighting against marines with power armour that looked like someone assembled it from 5 different armour sets, which is good as it makes this event very believable and prevents Mary Sueness)) The moon blowy-upyness just goes to show how powerful 40k is. TL;DR: Ultramarines reserve team. ==Daily Rituals== 04:00 - Wake Up: The Genesis Chapter rise up from their sleep in their faux marble-encased sleeping chambers. They show a live feed of Guiliman, who has already been awake for some time, having lost the need for sleep as a side effect of his revival. 04:30 - Morning Prayers: The Genesis Chapter conduct morning prayers on why they are the SECOND TO THE ULTRAMARINES! and how all other chapters should view the Ultramarines as the best stuff evah! 05:30 - Codex Astartes: The Genesis Chapter are indoctrinated and reminded on the rules and values of the Codex Astartes. The news of Codex revisions causes them to go into conniptions. 08:00 - Morning Firing Rites: The Genesis Chapter enter target practice with spiritual guidance from the Chaplain. However, their shock over the changes to the Codex cause them to often miss their targets. 09:00 - Battle Practice: The Genesis Chapter leave for Newfound's Colosseum to train against each other, the local Newfound fauna, and Battle Servitors. 10:00 - Morning Meal: While later than some chapters, the Genesis Chapter feast upon a light meal made of fruits, biscuits and light meat by the Chapter serfs. The serfs are thanked soon afterwards in a manner of respect. 10:15 - Tactical Indoctrination: The Genesis chapter attempt to barge into Ultramar to see the latest battle plans and which military techniques that can best complement the Codex Astartes. The Ultramarines respectfully tell them to butt out and find something better to do. 10:30 - Prayers to the Spiritual Liege: Whilst the rest of the Genesis Chapter practice reciting the Codex Astartes, the leaders from each of the Chapter's companies discuss political, social and military affairs of Newfound and the Imperium at large. 11:00 - Afternoon Wargames: The Genesis Chapter conducts miniature wargames to best simulate strategic and combat play which can be learned and adapted in real life combat. However, they almost always play the small blueberries with powerful ranged attacks. 13:00 - Midday Meal: A light meal of cheese, bread, meats and vegetables is prepared by the Chapter serfs. 13:30 - Codex Astartes: More indoctrination of the Codex Astartes is read to ensure that the Genesis Chapter never diverge from the book of Guilliman. However, they often recite verses wrongly, causing them great distress. 15:00 - Evening Firing Rites: The Genesis Chapter enter target practice. Their aim still sucks, due to their guilt of not memorizing the Codex Astartes. 16:00 - Battle Practice: The Genesis Chapter are now dropped into the wilderness of Newfound to fend off the local fauna and flora there. The animals and plants killed are sent to the Chapter Serfs for more ingredients. 17:00 - Evening Prayers: The Genesis Chapter gather together to pray on why they are the chosen chapter and why the Newfound System is the best system. 18:00 - Nighttime Firing Rites: The Genesis Chapter take target practice in the night to further hone in their <s>lack of</s> nocturnal experience. 19:00 - Battle Practice: The Genesis Chapter descends to Ultramar to fight the planet's local fauna and flora, as well as the various nasty things Nurgle has been attacking Ultramar with lately. They also thank the Emperor for allowing them to be there. 19:30 - Daily Medical Checkup: Whilst the rest of the Genesis Chapter are busy practicing their combat prowess, the long hours of having to keep said Chapter away has left Roboute Guilliman in a state of dismay, anger and minor facial injuries due to repeated facepalming. Apothecaries try and fail to warn their Primarch that continued usage of the facepalm will eventually give the Avenging Son a concussion. Any battle-brothers who have come into contact with the forces of the Genesis Chapter are painstakingly decontaminated to prevent the spread of any nerd obsession. 20:00 - Evening Meal: A feast made from the creatures slain by the Genesis Chapter earlier on is cooked in the finest ingredients. Cooking it perfectly gets the serf a purity seal of cooking while cooking it imperfectly forces the serf to be read the entire Codex Astartes section on how to be a spiritual liege. 21:00 - Cleaning up shop: The Genesis Chapter go and clean up the signs they were on Macragge. They also return home to Newfound. 22:00 - Free Time: The Genesis Chapter get free time. Some continue to read the Codex Astartes, others pray to the Emperor while some go out of their Fortress Monastery to catch up on the local news and political affairs as well as hanging out with the citizens of Newfound. 24:00 - Rest Period: The Genesis Chapter return to their faux marble-encased sleeping chambers to rest. Guilliman breathes a sigh of relief as he is no longer pestered by those fanboy nerds. <s>Wait a minute! This is just the daily rituals for the Ultramarines with a few adjustments!</s> *BLAM!* Heresy! this is a unique Daily ritual. ==Relics== In the Deathwatch there is a hallowed tome referred to as Tulius Insight. To which battle brothers from stricter chapters are directed to if they are having difficulty adjusting from Codex Astartes doctrines to the much looser freedoms allowed by the Ordos Xenos. This tome details how the Codex Astartes can still be applied to the marine's duties, even when away from their parent chapter in situations where it might not be apparently clear. ==Gallery== <gallery> File:Genesis Miniature.jpg File:Genesis Battle Brother.jpg File:Genesis Primaris.jpg </gallery>
