The polar opposite of [[Disney]]. The other super-famous american animation studio. Dreamworks once started as another dream project (ha!) of director Steven Spielberg, wanting to get his Oscar winning hands into animation. Given that the field was mostly dominated by the Mouse, Spielberg jumped on the occasion that their rival company was going through a massive shakeup to make an impression. And make an impression they did! At first, mostly. They had ambitious projects and found to be much better at making stories centered around adventures or high concepts better than Disney.

==/tg/ relevance and recommended Dreamworks films==

Dreamworks was, for a long time, not popular on 4chan. Especially on [[/co/]] because, being the fedora-tipping bunch they were (even by 4chan's standards), they saw most of their films as mediocre comedy schlocks that miraculously broke records for no good reason, and only served as yet another excuse for western audience to [[Heresy|percieve animation as a "genre" for children]]. That, for course, doesn't mean that Dreamworks didn't had any hits which resonated with the website or the internet.

Yeah, because as it turns out, Dreamworks has a reputation for making terrible movies. Disney might be catching them up when it comes to the Good/bad film ratio, but Dreamworks really made it their mark of fabric for a long, long time. Watch these at your own risk, although we don't get why you would want to watch them.
