==Tabletop== ===Horus Heresy 1.0=== {| class=wikitable ! || Pts || WS || BS || S || T || W || I || A || Ld || Sv |- | Sigismund || 230 || 7 || 4 || 4 || 4 || 4 || 5 || 4 || 10 || 2+ |} He received stats in the third Horus Heresy book, showing him to be a close-combat monster: With Eternal Warrior, Fearless, Adamantium Will, a +2S AP2 weapon, instant death and re-rolls ones to hit when in challenges, 4 attacks at WS7, and forcing successful invulns to be re-rolled, he's the nastiest duelist character so far in virtually any incarnation of the rules, barring the Primarchs, Constantin Valdor, motherfucking Anacharis Scoria and the Cheestodes Tribune. He's also one of the few that has a fighting chance against some of the weaker among said Primarchs. Now that some Legions, namely Sons of Horus, Salamanders, and Imperial Fists, have access to Eternal Warrior from relics that non-Primarchs can take, he's descended from being an "I win as soon as I wound" button to merely "75% likely to win." Aside from all that, he allows you to take Templar Brethren as troops, gives any unit he joins +1I on the charge and rerolls to charges and Sweeping Advance, and if taken as the warlord has a fixed trait that gives +1VP and +1CR to his entire army if he kills the enemy warlord in a challenge. This still means pretty much all Legion characters barring Salamander Praetors and Eidolon are fucked as Sigismund is forced to challenge and most Legions have nothing, bar their Primarchs, who could stand up to Sigismund and hope to win (excluding terrible rolls). In fact, even against his own Primarch (or any T6, 4++ Primarch barring Lorgar and Russ), Sigismund makes a good stab at it and causes just under 1 wound per turn mathematically during a challenge (what with IWND and all), which hilariously, is almost as much as Dorn's own brother can cause against him. While Sigismund receives 1.25 wounds/turn in return. Which is actually pretty good for Astartes vs Primarch combat. As of the fourth book in the Siege of Terra series, we even have fluff to back this up, as Sigismund was able to get in a few shots against Fulgrim before the Phoenician started beating him down. ===Horus Heresy 2.0=== Sigismund is still a beast in this edition. The "Kingsbane" has Fearless, Eternal Warrior, Adamantium Will (3+), Precision Strikes (3+), 4 Wounds and WS7. But wait, there is more! He gets Death's Champion, +2" when charging or advancing for him and his unit and let you take Templar Brethren as troops; and Dolorous Fighter, which FORCES you and your opponent to issue and accept Challenges whenever possible and forces your opponent to re-roll successful Invulnerable saves against Sigismund's attacks during Challenges. Last but not least, his weapon, the Black Sword, is S+2, or S6, AP2, with Two handed, Instant Death and Master-crafted. All that for a measly 230 points. Thanks to his Warlord Trait, Slayer of Kings, if you kill the enemy warlord in a Challenge, you gain 1 VP, and every unit in your army adds +1 (not stacking) to value that determines an assault result. In addition, you get an extra reaction during your opponent's Movement phase (*cough* The Best Defence *cough*). You will definitely kill the enemy warlord with Sigismund, unless it is a Primarch. He also has a master-crafted bolt pistol, but since his sword is Two-Handed and you're going to want him to be in melee as often as possible, it is pretty useless. Strangely, unlike his Templar Brethren, he does not have Crusader, but you're hardly going to miss it. His main assets are Eternal Warrior and Instant Death. With his high WS and Strength, you are pretty sure to wound your adversary, and hence kill him. He is not the "best" duellist in the game, but he's still the deadliest. For example, Captain Lucius will always outperform Sigismund in a Challenge: 1.43 unsaved wounds with Nineteen and 1.54 with The Blade of the Laer, against 1.40 with The Black Sword, if both did not charge. However, one wound is enough to kill Lucius, and it will happen on the first round of the Challenge. ===Sigismund vs. The Other Captains=== <div class="toccolours mw-collapsible mw-collapsed" style="100%"> Now, Sigismund seems pretty good, handing out Instant Death like candy while having Eternal Warrior to tank it himself-- but how many captains can he actually beat? <div class="mw-collapsible-content"> as it turns out, the answer is <big>ALL OF THEM. NOBODY IS SAFE.</big> Literally every single Astartes character in the game loses to this fucker. Not only does he have absurd damage and Eternal Warrior, he forces his opponent to re-roll their fucking invulnerable saves. He's a beast, and completely wipes the floor with everyone that isn't a Primarch. Sigismund vs. Corswain *Corswain with The Blade (Hits on MC 3+): 2.89 hits, 2.41 wounds, 1.21 unsaved wounds *Sigismund with the Black Sword (Hits on MC 4+): 2.25 hits, 1.88 wounds, 1.04 unsaved ID wounds :Sigismund wins. :Corswain actually puts up a good fight with his 3++ and WS 7 (and +1 to hit with the Deathwing Sub-Type), but it's far from enough. Sigismund vs. Eidolon *Sigismund with the Black Sword (Hits on MC 3+): 2.89 hits, 2.41 wounds 1.81 unsaved ID wounds *Eidolon with Glory Aeterna (Hits on MC 5+): 1.56 hits, 1.3 wounds, 1.3 unsaved wounds :Sigismund wins. :If Sigismund charges, Eidolon dies without even striking due to having Unwieldy on Glory Aeterna. Sigismund vs. Lucius *Lucius with Nineteen (Hits on MC 3+): 4.22 hits, 2.11 wounds, 1.06 unsaved wounds *Lucius with the Laer Blade (Hits on MC 4+): 2.75 hits, 2.29 wounds, 1.15 unsaved wounds *Sigismund with the Black Sword (vs. Nineteen, Hits on MC 5+): 1.56 hits, 1.3 wounds, 0.98 unsaved ID wounds *Sigismund with the Black Sword (vs. Laer Blade, Hits on MC 4+): 2.25 hits, 1.88 wounds, 1.41 unsaved ID wounds :Sigismund wins. :Lucius might chip a wound off Sigismund, but he's still likely to die in the first round of combat. Sigismund vs. Qin Xa *Qin Xa with the Tails of the Dragon (Part the Horse's Mane, Hits on MC 5+): 1.89 hits, 1.26 wounds, 0.63 unsaved wounds *Qin Xa with the Tails of the Dragon (Split the Mountain, Hits on MC 5+): 1.89 hits, 1.58 wounds, 0.79 unsaved wounds *Sigismund with the Black Sword (Hits on MC 3+): 2.89 hits, 2.41 wounds, 1.81 unsaved ID wounds :Sigismund wins. :Qin Xa just isn't strong enough to duel Sigismund (or any other captain, at that). Sigismund vs. Fafnir Rann *Sigismund with the Black Sword (Hits on MC 3+): 2.89 hits, 1.93 wounds, 1.45 unsaved ID wounds *Fafnir Rann with the Headsman and the Hunter (Single axe, Hits on MC 5+): 1.89 hits, 1.58 wounds, 0.79 unsaved wounds :Sigismund wins. :Rann has a chance if he's with Warders in the Stone Gauntlet ROW, but Sigismund still wins (if not by a lot). Sigismund vs. Sevatar *Sevatar with Night's Whisper (Hits on MC 4+): 2.25 hits, 1.88 wounds, 0.94 unsaved wounds **Sevatar with Night's Whisper (Shadows of Past and Future, Hits on MC 3+): 3.56 hits, 2.97 wounds, 1.49 unsaved wounds *Sigismund with the Black Sword (Hits on MC 4+): 2.25 hits, 1.88 wounds, 1.41 unsaved ID wounds **Sigismund with the Black Sword (Shadows of Past and Future, Hits on MC 5+): 1.89 hits, 1.58 wounds, 1.19 unsaved ID wounds :Sigismund wins. :While Shadows of Past and Future is an extremely powerful ability, it just isn't enough to defeat Sigismund. Sigismund vs. Raldoron *Sigismund with the Black Sword (Hits on MC 4+): 2.25 hits, 1.88 wounds, 1.41 unsaved ID wounds *Raldoron with the Encarmine Warblade (Hits on MC 4+): 2.25 hits, 2 wounds, 1 unsaved wound **Raldoron charging with the Encarmine Warblade (Hits on MC 4+): 2.75 hits, 2.67 wounds, 1.33 unsaved wounds :Sigismund wins. :Raldoron can re-roll his wounds, which increases his damage output, though he doesn't have enough attacks to kill Sigismund. Sigismund vs. Kharn *Sigismund with the Black Sword (Hits on MC 4+): 2.25 hits, 1.88 wounds, 1.41 unsaved ID wounds *Kharn with Gorechild (Hits on 4+) 2 hits, 1.78 wounds, 0.89 unsaved wounds **Kharn charging with Gorechild (Hits on 4+): 3 hits, 2.67 wounds, 1.34 unsaved wounds *Kharn with the Cutter (Hits on 4+): 2.5 hits, 2.22 wounds, 0.82 unsaved wounds **Kharn charging with the Cutter (Hits on 4+): 3.5 hits, 3.11 wounds, 1.15 unsaved wounds :Sigismund wins. :While Kharn dishes out a ton of attacks, especially on the charge, he doesn't have enough to kill Sigismund. Sigismund vs. Typhon *Sigismund with the Black Sword (Hits on MC 3+): 2.89 hits, 2.41 wounds, 1.81 unsaved ID wounds **Sigismund with the Black Sword (vs. Witchsense, Hits on MC 4+): 2.25 hits, 1.88 wounds, 1.41 unsaved ID wounds *Typhon with Lakrimae (Hits on 5+): 1.33 hits, 1.11 wounds, 0.61 unsaved wounds **Typhon with Lakrimae (Witchsense, hits on 4+): 3 hits, 2.67 wounds, 1.34 unsaved wounds :Sigismund wins. :Typhon is extremely strong, especially with Witchsense, dishing out 6 (7 with Reaping Blow) attacks at WS7, Sigismund vs. Ahriman *Ahriman with the Corvidaean Sceptre (Hits on MC 5+): 1.89 hits, 1.58 wounds, 0.53 unsaved wounds *Sigismund with the Black Sword (Hits on MC 3+): 2.89 hits, 2.41 wounds, 1.81 unsaved ID wounds :Sigismund wins. Sigismund vs. Abaddon *Sigismund with the Black Sword (Hits on MC 4+): 2.25 hits, 1.88 wounds, 1.41 unsaved ID wounds *Abaddon with the Cthonian Claw (Hits on MC 4+): 3.25 hits, 3.16 wounds, 1.58 unsaved wounds :Sigismund wins. Sigismund vs. Erebus *Sigismund with the Black Sword (Hits on MC 3+): 2.89 hits, 2.41 wounds, 1.81 unsaved ID wounds *Erebus with the Crux Malifica (Hits on 5+): 1.67 hits, 1.39 wounds, 0.70 unsaved wounds Note: Erebus is not the First Captain of the Word Bearers, Kor Phaeron is. :Sigismund wins. Sigismund vs. Armillus Dynat *Sigismund with the Black Sword (Hits on MC 3+): 2.89 hits, 2.41 wounds, 1.81 unsaved ID wounds *Armillus Dynat with the Prince (Hits on 5+): 1.67 hits, 0.84 wounds, 0.23 unsaved wounds *Armillus Dynat with the Prophet (Hits on 5+): 0.33 hits, 0.28 wounds, 0.28 unsaved wounds :Sigismund wins. Sigismund vs. Nathaniel Garro *Garro with Libertas (Hits on 5+): 1.33 hits, 0.89 wounds, 0.89 unsaved wounds *Sigismund with the Black Sword (Hits on MC 3+): 2.89 hits, 2.41 wounds, 1.34 unsaved ID wounds :Sigismund wins. :Brutal (2) isn't enough to overcome Sigismund, especially with Garro's WS of 6. Battle-Hardened (1) also does nothing against the Black Sword, since it just immediately confers Eternal Warrior. Sigismund vs. Generic Praetor *Sigismund with the Black Sword (Hits on MC 3+): 2.89 hits, 2.41 wounds, 1.81 unsaved ID wounds *Praetor with Paragon Blade (Hits on 5+): 1.33 hits, 0.89 wounds, 0.45 unsaved wounds *Praetor with Thunder Hammer (Hits on 5+): 1.33 hits, 1.11 wounds, 1.11 unsaved wounds :Sigismund wins. For shits and giggles, I figured I'd see how he does against the game's other Eternal Warriors. Sigismund vs. the Cheestodes Tribune *Tribune with Paragon Spear (Hits on MC 4+): 3 hits, 2.5 wounds, 1.25 unsaved wounds *Sigismund with the Black Sword (Hits on MC 4+): 2.25 hits, 1.5 wounds, 1.13 unsaved wounds :The Custodes Tribune wins. :While Sigismund is an Eternal Warrior himself, his whole offensive gimmick is Instant Death, which the Cheestodes Tribune respectfully ignores. Sigismund vs. Constantin Valdor *Valdor with the Apollonian Spear (Hits on MC 4+): 3.79 hits, 3.16 wounds, 1.58 unsaved wounds *Sigismund with the Black Sword (Hits on MC 4+): 2.25 hits, 1.5 wounds, 0.83 unsaved wounds :Valdor wins. :Sigismund forces Valdor to re-roll his successful invulnerable saves, but he just doesn't have enough attacks. Sigismund vs. Jenetia Krole *Jenetia Krole with the Sword of Oblivion (Hits on 2+): 3.3 hits, 2.22 wounds, 1.11 unsaved wounds *Sigismund with the Black Sword (Hits on MC 6+): 0.81 hits, 0.68 wounds, 0.51 unsaved wounds :Sigismund loses. :Since Ex Oblivio can be used during any Assault phase, it will consistently trash his damage output while making it easy for Jenny to land a decent amount of blows. </div></div> Marines-Characters
