Sure it hurt, but he wasn't afraid of death anymore. It lead to him racing himself, being confident in every aspect of his life, and general happiness. After all, there's no reason to be afraid of a gang if you can always turn yourself into a bigger one...

Unfortunate and awkward personality traits: tends to hiss at people he dislikes/as a threat, and has an awkward chittery laugh.
