==Dungeons & Dragons== In Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder, Nagas resemble giant snakes with human heads. In the earliest editions, the human heads were very distinctive from the snake bodies, but as editions have gone past, they've become more and more reptilian-faced, and honestly kind of creepy-looking. Nagas in the realms of Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder are classed under aberration. The first-edition Monster Manual listed three types: Guardian Naga (20' long) were Lawful Good, Spirit (15') Chaotic Evil, and Water (10') pure Neutral. Again: we're not counting lamia, yuan-ti, the Type V Demon nor all the rest of 'em. The Dark Naga came out in the Creature Catalog 1984. Second Edition put 'em as "Naga, Dark" in a whole separate "Monstrous Manual" entry much as they'd sequestered the Jermlaine from other gremlins. Why? Ask Lorraine. Anyway they're Lawful Evil and 12' long, and do magic. Al-Qadim has its own version of naga called Serpent Lords. The Naga as a race (where not demoniacs) revere a matron goddess, Shekinester. Very little information on her exists. In 3e, the Epic Level Handbook proposed the Ha-Naga for their Epic Levels. No, we barely knew about them either. In Pathfinder, nagas are considered a type of aberration, and are found across the many Monster Manuals of the Pathfinder Roleplaying System. Being a D&D rip-off, of course the traditional quarter of Dark, Guardian, Spirit and Water Nagas are all represented, with Dark, Guardian and Spirit Nagas in the original Bestiary and Water Nagas waiting until the 3rd Bestiary, where they were joined by the newcomers Royal Naga (five-headed shapechangers with five separate humanoid forms) and Lunar Naga (weak but beautiful astronomers and astrologers). The Occult Bestiary introduced the Dream Naga (denizens of the Dimension of Dreams), whilst Adventure Paths introduced two more; the sewer-dwelling, slime-commanding Slime Nagas in the Hell's Rebels path (Part #4: A Song of Silver) and Huge-sized, subterranean Deep Nagas in the Ironfang Invasion path (Part #4: Siege of Stone). Golarion once had an empire of nagas in the not!India land of Vudra, but it was toppelled with incredible speed so that even the nagas aren't sure what happened. Their fortunes are on the rise in the not!Japan realm of Tian Xia, where they have founded a new nation called Nagajor, ruling over human/naga hybrids called the Nagaji. Ironfang Invasion: Siege of Stone also features an Ecology of the Naga, which provides one of the most in-depth looks of nagas in any D&D setting, never mind Golarion. Whilst some elements are, of course, specific to Golarion, others could easily be plucked for other settings, such as the naga's hedonism and their dining habits. And yes, Paizo went so far as to add vore to it, the sick bastards. ===PC Stats=== Surprisingly, nagas have actually appeared as playable characters. Warcraft's nagas appeared in the Dungeons & Dragons 3e tie-in "World of Warcraft: The Roleplaying Game". Here, they appeared in the Dark Factions sourcebook. Rokugan's nagas have appeared as a PC race in both the Legend of the Five Rings RPG and in the Rokugan Campaign Setting for Dungeons & Dragons 3rd edition. <div class="toccolours mw-collapsible mw-collapsed" style="100%"> Click "Expand" to see the stablock. <div class="mw-collapsible-content"> ::+2 Constitution, +2 Wisdom, -2 Charisma ::Large ::Base speed 40 feet ::Immune to Shadowlands Taint ::+2 racial bonus to Charisma and Diplomacy checks made against other Naga. ::+2 racial bonus to Wilderness Lore skill checks. ::-4 racial penalty to Animal Empathy, Handle Animal and Ride checks. ::Alien: You starting Honor is always 0. ::Bloodline: Choose the Asp, Chameleon, Cobra, Constrictor or Greensnake bloodline.
