It is not up to par with the legendary revolvers of a gunslinger, but reliable and robust.  Alan carries it in a docker's clutch, that is, a shoulder holster.

:A very old, machete-like knife given to Alan when he was a child, as a gift.  Alan believes it may have belonged to his father at one point.  It is honed to a razor's edge and has a smooth wooden haft.  Alan wears his knife on his hip in a leather scabbard of his own devising, the original having long since worn to uselessness.
